Bryce-man spent the weekend with Grandma and Papaw so he was having a pretty good time too.
He went to a show at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center with Grandma and Yiayia on Saturday to see a show with some of the Nickelodeon characters. Yiayia and Grandma said he had a blast and he told me who was there and what the skits were about.
We drove up on Friday and got back Sunday around dinner time. I took Monday off so I could spend time with Bryce...and since we were missing him a ton!
We were feeling guilty I guess for leaving him because Monday turned into Craft/Activity day. Mike wanted to buy something at Michael's for all of us to do together but we decided we had enough crap around the house to figure something out. And we did.
We had bought an activity book at a garage sale awhile ago and it came in pretty handy. We made a volcano out of baking soda, vinegar and a water bottle (no red food coloring for the lava so we substituted red sprinkles...which Bryce just wanted to eat!)
Mike thought it was a little boring just pouring in the vinegar and watching it bubble so he decided to let the pressure build up a bit and cover the bottle with his finger and........MAJOR ERUPTION! Vinegar EVERYWHERE!
Any good ideas on how to get vinegar out of carpet and a flat screen tv??
Then we decided to make a pinata out of paper mache'. Bryce helped Mike stir up the flour/water mix.
That was a mess and all Bryce wanted to do was dip the newspaper in the flour/water mix. Mike and I did all the leg work- soaking the paper and putting all over the balloon. We ran out of newspaper so I tore up an old phone book and that worked just fine.
We had to let it dry overnight and Bryce was excited to know that candy would eventually be put inside of it. And he liked the "hit it with a baseball bat" part too.
Kitchen was a disaster but it was worth the fun we had!
The next day, it had dried so we let him "decorate it" with markers and crayons and stickers.
Not only did our guilt cause us to partake in craft/activities, but we also bought him a fish tank. A 5 gallon fish tank with a filter. The first time we bought him a fish bowl we had a single goldfish in there (named Rex) and it was a pain in the ass trying to keep the water cleaned.
RIP Rex.
SO this time we thought we would be responsible and get one that cleans itself AND we bought a sucker fish for back-up. So now he has 2 goldfish and a sucker fish.
They are named after a kid's show called the Wonder Pets- the large orange and white one is Lenny, the smaller multi-colored one is Tuck, and the sucker fish is Ming-Ming.
Bryce likes having new buddies in his room and tells them to not be scared when it is time for bed. He also likes making us smell the nasty, stinky fish food.
He's also been counting and can count to 13 or 14 consistently, and can count to 3 or 4 in Spanish and up to 10 with help.
He loves to paint and is a FULL OF ENERGY!
We role play and pretend that we are dragons or witches or lions and he runs around and changes his voice for each character. Sounds effects are used when necessary too.
Here's a few videos. Enjoy!
