Summer is here! My niece was born on April 30th at 6:55 p.m. A chunky monkey weighing in at 8 lbs. 14 oz. Beautiful, perfection. What a blessing to have this new addition to the family.
Tonya (sis-in-law) went to the hospital and was induced. You should have seen all of us in the waiting lounge...I say lounge because waiting room would not do it justice. St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa remodeled the Women's Hospital and did a remarkable job. We walked in and I thought I was at a resort or pricey hotel. Very relaxing, open, peaceful. Not at all resembling a hospital. So back to all of us hanging out in the lounge...we basically took over the place. We being Mom, Dad, Mike, Bryce and I. Then Tonya's step mom Edith joined in on the "invasion." Luckily, there was an outside area that was fenced in...a garden area with benches and plants and a dry fountain with stones. So we hung out there (totally claimed the garden as ours) and then spread out inside. Areas conquered: coffee/quick snack tables- ours. Labor-Delivery waiting area to the left- check. Waiting area to the right- check. Gift shop- pft. ours. Cafeteria- although freezing, ours. Then Bryce decided that the staff would be included in our plight to rename St. Joseph's to (amusement park jingle)...FARKAS-BYRD LAND. Bryce followed the janitor around while he vacuumed every rug in the place. It was hilarious! Mom and I couldn't stop laughing at this little boy obviously obsessed with this man's "vroom vroom" as Bryce calls it!
So here we are with all of our belongings (crap): bags for Bryce, toys, cameras, video camera and then we were told that Tonya was having a c-section and Mom and Edith come out of the double doors with their hands absolutely full. The doctor/nurse told Bobby that everything had to be removed from the room. So Mom and Edith grabbed everything...lap top, duffel bags of clothes, pillow, boppy, blanket, small suitcase, kitchen sink, you get the idea. So we congregated in the waiting area to the left and plopped all of the (crap) bags, etc. down. Moved right in!

We were all nervous, for obvious reasons. Prayed. Prayed. Prayed. And played cards. Of course. (Kicked Mike's butt in Rummy). Before we could even finish the game, Bobby called to tell us that Summer Ann was here! Everyone was beyond excited, relieved, overwhelmed and of course anxious to see both baby and new mama. We had to wait until Summer was in the nursery and couldn't see Tonya because they were still making sure she was stable. Finally, after 30+ minutes, we were able to trek on up to the nursery to see little miss thang for the first time. You should have seen us...we could have used a moving truck to haul all of the (crap) stuff we had. Edith said we looked like a band of gypsies!
We claimed the nursery as ours and, da-dadada....there she was! We couldn't get over how pink she was. Dark hair and lots of it. Proud new daddy was in the nursery as the nurse checked the new bambino out. We couldn't believe her weight! She didn't look that big. She was beautiful. After a brief visit with Tonya, lots of pictures and phone calls later, Edith left, and then the rest of us kind of trickled off. Welcome to parenthood Bobby and Tonya!

What a glorious day. A blessed day.
